Goodyear is asking artists to consider how a public artwork reads at two different speeds: to someone walking past and to someone travelling along the street. A current heART of Goodyear call seeks qualifications to paint fiberglass hearts placed throughout the city.
The Arizona Commission on the Arts lists an application deadline of October 26, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. and an award of $1,200. Eligibility extends to Arizona artists, artist teams and educational institutions. The announced theme is Love Where You Live, with artists expected to engage the surrounding community as part of developing a design.

The hearts are described as approximately five feet tall, six feet wide and forty inches deep, with artwork covering both sides. Applicants should follow the linked city opportunity materials for the exact submission requirements and scope rather than treating a short announcement as the complete agreement.
For someone considering an application, begin by reviewing the qualifications requested and the work the award is intended to cover. Think about a design’s legibility from a distance and the details that would reward a closer look. Community engagement can also start with listening: what places, routines and shared experiences do residents want an artwork to recognize?
